The Frances was originally developed in Iceland in the late 70’s as a less complicated variation of Peter Dean’s Black Eyed Prawn Fly. It has proved to be phenomenally successful. The Frances arrived in earnest to UK in the early 90’s with fishermen who had traveled to Iceland. It was a very successful fly in Helmsdale River and is now somewhat of a standard fly for many UK salmon anglers.
This fly has saved so many trips and you shouldn't go anywher without it.
Tied on a copper tube for extra weight.
