The BEP was invented by late Peter Dean in the 60’s. Complicated but very effective tube flies normally tied in Black, Red or Green, though sometimes tied as doubles as well. Simpler flies like the Frances were derived from it owing to the complexity of the pattern and the scarcity of seals fur from which it was originally tied. The BEP flies have had a resurgence in popularity in Iceland over the last decade and many expert anglers swear by it being more effective than the Frances series of salmon flies.
Tied on a copper tube for extra weight.
