The Arndilly Fancy is one of the flies tied by Megan Boyd from Brora in Sutherland. Although she was never a fly-fisher she was taught the art of tying flies when she was only twelve years old by Bob Trussler. She has gone on to become one of the top fly tyers in the world. A very popular fly in late 70’s and early 80’s, but nowadays has a small but dedicated following of fly fishermen. Works well in midsummer and bright conditions. Especially popular in Iceland and UK.
All of our small trebles are meant to fished as the first fly trough the pool. This subtle tactics can be highly rewarding. Switch to a hitch or small conehead fly after the small treble.
