Step by step
Step 1 add the kursk head to the tubing that comes with the kit, score the outside of the tube with a dubbing needle where the head ends to clearly see where to tie up to. Then with your dubbing needle through the eye of the head make a hole through the tubing for your leader.
Step 2 Next add your tube to the vice and start tying with your thread but no further than the marker on the tube, so the head can still fit.
Step 3 wrap some black buck tail all around the tube and tie up the length of the tube for a uniform body. Trim away the waste with a scalpel then neaten up with your thread.
Step 4 tie in a black cock hackle at the start of the tail and make several wraps, work your thread back a little bit to angle the hackle fibres back towards the tail. Add a couple of strands of pearl krinkle flash on top fold back and tie down again underneath.
Step 5 add some feelers of stripped black cock hackles and trim to the desired length both top and bottom with the maximum vibration to the stem. Tie up the length of the tube for uniform shape.
Step 6 tie in some medium silver oval french tinsel, followed by a black cock hackle tips first, both for palmering and ribbing the dubbed body of the fly.
Step 7 make a tapered dubbing body with peacock easy dubbing, then palmer the dubbed body with the black cock hackle, strengthen the body by wrapping the oval tinsel in the opposite direction of the hackle and tie off to finish the tying part of the fly. Add some glue to the last few wraps of thread.
Step 8 without using glue push the head of the fly back on and check that the hole is nice and open with the needle reopen again if needed, you can now interchange the heads for 1 or 2 gram versions and any colour you wish.
