Micro tubes can be highly effective flies for salmon in many conditions. They are easy to tie and adding some weight such as micro cone adds the possibilities how one can fish with them.
I saw micro tube first time when fishing in Iceland. It soon came apparent that these flies work really well in many conditions. I've later fished with them in many other places, with good success. I generally like to fish with small flies, not to spook the fish and overfish the pool. Lightly weighted micro flies work great in fast riffles where hook flies might start to skate on the surface. They also work well in slow water pools where you can strip the fly. Tiny strips - pause -tiny strips and you can get the resident fish aroused as well.
